Mountain-Pine is a small city located in Garland County in central Arkansas. The population is approximately 900 residents. Mountain Pine is part of the Hot Springs metropolitan area and is near Lake Hamilton and Lake Ouachita. The city of Mountain Pine consists of five defined neighborhoods: Pinewood (Northside), South Mountain Pine, the Business District, Cozy Acres (Southwest) and the Mountain View/Timberland area. Nearby Lake Hamilton is a 7,460-acre recreation and residential lake. Much of the shoreline is filled with condominiums, homes, resorts, hotels and restaurants. Activities include swimming, boating, fishing, waterskiing and parasailing. A 400 passenger riverboat called the Belle of Hot Springs offers cruises on Lake Hamilton. Lake Ouachita is a 40,000-acre lake known for its scenic beauty and pristine clear waters. Lake Ouachita is the largest man made lake in the state of Arkansas and has 975 miles of shoreline. Activities include swimming, boating, water-skiing, and fishing, hiking, camping and picnicking. Lake Ouachita is quite popular for scuba diving. It features one of the largest crystal veins in the world, and has rare, non-stinging jellyfish and sponges found only in a very few of the cleanest freshwater lakes.

Mountain Pine Weather & Climate

Central Arkansas has a climate classified as humid subtropical. Summers are hot and muggy and winters are mild, with very little snow. Daily high in winter are 50 degrees F. Annual precipitation averages between 40-60 inches. Snowfall averages about five inches. Snowfall is more common in the northern half of the state. Central and southern Arkansas are more apt to get ice storms, sleet and freezing rain. Thunderstorms are very common, however, with the area receiving around 60 per year. Arkansas is known for extreme weather, especially in the form of tornadoes. Some of the most destructive tornadoes in U.S. history have struck the state, which receives an average of 26 per year. Central Arkansas also often gets the remnants of tropical storms from the Gulf of Mexico, which brings large amounts of rain in a short time.
